Request an Interlibrary Loan

Log In

Select the link above to access ShareIT.
Click on "Please Login" in the top right corner.
Under "Select Your Library," select QT701: Tyler Public Library.
Enter your full Library card barcode number in the textbox labeled "Barcode."
In the textbox labeled "Password," enter "USERPASS". This will prompt you to change your password.

Password

The Library will not have access to your password, and we will not be able to recover it for you. If you forget your password, you must follow the prompts for "forgot password" on the ShareIT page. It will send you an email to reset your password.

Search for Your Book

At the top of the page is a search bar. You can search by title, author, and other options by clicking the arrow next to "All Headings" and selecting the one you need. There is also an "Advanced Search" function if you have more specific needs, allowing you to search by specific terms or by broad topics and subjects rather than a single title. Remember that some books, especially nonfiction, may have different editions. Once you have found the item you are looking for, click "Request This Item."

ILL Form

Much of the form will auto-populate according to the record you selected. Fill in all other spaces you can, especially your personal information, such as your name, contact information, and Library card number. Click "Submit" once you are finished.

After Submitting the Form

The request will then await staff approval, who search for the title and request it from other libraries. Once a library responds that they have the book and are willing to provide it, the book will be mailed to us. You will receive an email confirming that we have received your request, and another after the book arrives and is ready to be picked up at the Library.

How long a book takes to reach our library depends on several factors, including where the lending library is located, its staffing availability, weather, etc. We cannot guarantee we can get a book through Interlibrary Loan. If we encounter issues with availability, Library staff will contact you with other recommendations, such as filling out our Suggest a Purchase form or using digital resources.
