Get a Library Card

Who can get a Library Card?

Tyler Residents

Borrowing privileges and computer use are free to those who live inside the city limits of Tyler, and you or your landlord pays property tax to the City of Tyler. Please note that not everyone with a Tyler postal or mailing address lives inside the city limits. Residency will be determined by the actual location of the street address.

To view a map and determine if you reside within city limits, visit CityofTyler.org

Non-Residents

Those who do not pay property tax to the City of Tyler may borrow materials or use the Library's computers for a fee. You may purchase a monthly membership for $10, a 6-month membership for $50, or a one-year membership for $90, each of which entitles you to the same borrowing privileges as residents.

Tyler Property Owners

If you live outside the city limits of Tyler but you, your spouse, or, for minor children, their parents, personally own property or a business on which property taxes are paid to the City of Tyler, borrowing is also free. If you live outside the city limits and wish to claim free borrowing privileges for property or business ownership, please bring proof of property tax payment along with the identification mentioned in the section above when you apply for or renew your Library card.
